“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.” – Gandhi

Beattie writes about understanding who knows best when it comes to matters of our own lives. While there are those who attempt to help and guide us, those same people cannot live our lives for us. While we are free to listen and perhaps follow their advice, ultimately, we make up our own minds.

It has to be this way; otherwise, we can’t grow.

Similarly, we cannot try to control other peoples’ lives and decisions. We all need to be free to succeed on our own and make mistakes on our own. By trusting in others through listening to their advice, and by trusting in ourselves to know what is right for us, we might just be surprised at what we learn.

And, if perhaps a mistake is made by our own selves or someone else, it’s important to remember it’s not the end of the world (note to self: Really, Amanda, not the end of the world).

Have a good night, everyone.
