The Ughs.

I’ve been trying to examine why there exists in the world this feeling that can be summed up as: I DETEST YOU SO MUCH I WANT TO PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE AND I WON’T EVEN FEEL BAD ABOUT IT.

Is this how people go to anger management? Well, I guess they’d have to go if they went around punching people in their faces all the time. I have yet to punch someone in the face (without my magic boxing gloves, and even then it was a slow-mo punch), but today I witnessed pure harnessed wrath between two strangers and it was completely unnecessary. I realize it’s cold, it’s snowy, maybe you had a bad day as it was, but to flip so easily, like a tinderbox igniting…

It’s just ugly. I’ve felt that myself a few times, and even rationalizing it doesn’t help. I call it “the ughs” because it’s draining. I mean, I get it. Sometimes you just need to rage. I know it’s not healthy, though. Keep ragin’ against whatever machine you wish, but ultimately it’s a losing battle – unless you use your powers for good, and not for evil.

For example: let’s say you’ve got your SUPER ANGRIES out, and just the thought of a particular person makes you want to vom… at that point, I’d recommend going to the gym,  or drawing an intricate portrait of a pony with sparkles or glitter, or gettin’ your dance on. I would not recommend actually punching anyone in the face, or getting so close in their face that spit’s flying, or updating some social network which then lands you on the 10:00 news, and the anchor says: “Right before they punched said person in the face, they updated Twitter, saying _________. Up next, we’ve got pictures of ponies with sparkles and glitter.”

Unfortunately, I really don’t know the best way to not get to that point in the first place. But if I did, then I wouldn’t have been able to call something “the ughs,” either. You win some, you lose some.

Have a good night, everyone.

Whenever I come anywhere near raging, I always immediately regret it, because I’m ALWAYS in the wrong and I cannot figure out why I would even think to act that way. And then, I discover it’s that most wonderful time of the month and all is explained.

Yesterday we had two idiots on a nearby college campus rage against each other and an innocent janitor got caught in the cross fire. We really need to learn to fight off those “ughs” because it’s getting scary out there!
